#MentalHealth Awareness through #WorldMentalHealthDay and @SquishCandy Brainstorm in October

Squish Candies, based in Montreal, is known for their gummies crafted from the highest quality ingredients possible. When Douglas and I are in downtown together commuting from Granville Station, we like to pop by Squish Candies inside Top Shop to sample one of their 100 flavours of awesomely delicious gourmet gummies.

Every month, Squish chooses to support a different cause and organization with their candy of the month. For the month of October, Squish is donating a portion of Brainstorm profits to support The Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health . This non-profit organization aims to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and provide insight about the services and support available to those living with mental illness.

Globally, more than 300 million people suffer from depression, the leading cause of disability, with many of these people also suffering from symptoms of anxiety, according to the World Health Organization.

Annually on October 10th, #WorldMentalHealthDay is observed, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. This day gives everyone an opportunity to talk about what more can be done to make mental health care accessible for everyone internationally.
