Looking to give your mom some luxury “me-time” for Mother’s Day or any other special occasion? Why not book an experience in a local salon? Here are my picks based on past experiences at salons in Vancouver, Canada.

Suki’s Salon / Spa / Academy
Looking to give your mom a hair makeover? Pick up a gift card to visit one of the many Suki’s in Metro Vancouver.
Book a time with newly minted, award-winning stylist Eloise Chiew at Suki’s on Granville. I like this location because has the largest space with the top floor for colouring, the main level for hair styling and cuts and a spa in the lower level. They have a wide range of services and packages offered, starting from $90.

Customized Revlon Be Fabulous Hair Treatment at Salon Haze
For the mom that always wants to be red-carpet and camera ready, or is looking for a specialist to fix a current hair issue, book a time with Loretta at Salon Haze.
Loretta is our local Revlon Professional Brand Ambassador highly knowledgeable with the latest from the Revlon Be Fabulous line. There are three different product lines for three hair structure types: Daily Care for Fine Hair, Daily Care for Normal to Thick Hair and Hair Recovery for Dry and Damaged Hair. On average it take between 3 – 5 visits to tackle the specific hair issue.

Nail Art and Services at Onyx Aesthetics
Visit the Onyx team in Gastown for beautiful hand-painted nail art or for a luxurious mani-pedi experience.
If your mom is into long lasting nails, go for shellac which can last for over 14 days. If she wants to have the nail art gradually grow out, ask for a half-moon design (it’s a like a french mani design but upside down). Simple manicures start at $35 and nail art has a range, depending on how complex the design is.

Nexxus City Shield
If your mom prefers a simpler, stay in experience, there’s always the gift idea of salon quality luxury hair care with Nexxus.
Nexxus, a hair salon based in New York City, has just released the new City Shield Line. To reduce damage and frizz from being in the urban environment often, this line features a shampoo, conditioner and a DD creme. I really like the tube design for their DD creme, with the dispenser designed for the bottom, it’s really easy to use. This line is available in the hair care section in most major retailers.
Happy Gifting and Happy Mother’s Day!
